Developing High Quality, Winning School Plans
A PSC 3.0 Plan Writing Conference
The Los Angeles School Development Institute (LASDI) and UTLA have collaborated with the AFT Center for School Improvement to bring you a weekend of expert coaching in support of your Public School Choice plans. The conference will focus on:
- Effective Communication
- Team Building
- Data-Informed Decision Making
- Professional Development
Please encourage a representative group from your design team to attend the conference together. This group should include:
- Teachers
- Principals/Administrators
- Parents and Community Members
- Older Students

Developing High Performing Schools
Please join LASDI - in partnership with UTLA, AALA, and LAUSD - for a conference on developing high performing schools.
Your PSC design team will hear from experts and participate in discussions on:
- Characteristics of high performing schools
- Visioning and Team Building
- Successful practices at school sites
Additionally, your team will have a substantive amount of time to work on your plan with a LASDI consultant. Please be prepared for a work session.

Our colleagues from the American Federation of Teachers and United Federation of Teachers in NYC are returning to work with us, as they did last December to help school teams prepare proposals. Come away with key steps to make your plan successful – including a sustainable plan and timeline for implementation.

- Participate in a Q&A session with Public Relations and Communications Professionals
- Polish your presentation and public materials with the support and assistance of communications experts

Parent and Community Outreach Meeting for School Choice Plans
Join teachers, administrators, parents, and community members in designing action plans to build support for plans written by the local schools' teachers and parents. The meeting will address how to set up community meetings, ensure parent participation in the advisory vote, and build community partnerships.

Center for School Improvement Leadership Institute
In collaboration with LASDI, UTLA is hosting an exciting and intensive weekend institute, with the assistance of the American federation of Teachers (AFT), for design teams from all 36 focus and new schools. This interactive institute will focus on helping writing teams develop the highest quality school plans based on current research and best practices for increasing student achievement.

New School Design Team Training Sessions
UTLA, in collaboration with LASDI (Los Angeles School Development Institute), is hosting an introductory training for school proposal design teams of teachers, parents, and administrators drawn from the feeder schools for the 22 new schools subject to the Public School Choice resolution. This training offers an overview of the RFP process and step by step assistance to teams on writing their school plans, including meeting with LASDI-hired writing consultants.
